Regional Museum of the history of the steppe region in the city of Arkalyk, established by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR on February 4, 1972. On July 28, 1973, the first exhibition was opened. The opening ceremony of the Museum was attended by the first Secretary of the Central Committee of the com. Party Of Kazakhstan D. A. Kunaev. At the origins of the Museum were such people as the largest statesman of Kazakhstan Uzbekali Zhanibekov, the first leaders of the Torgay region Sakan Kussainov, Yuri Trofimov, Aidarkhan Sarsenov. There is no doubt that every item that makes up the Museum's exposition plays an invaluable role in recreating the history of the steppe region.

 

Uzbekali Zhanibekov, at that time, held the position of Secretary of the Regional party Committee on ideology. He put a lot of effort into the revival of the national culture, language, customs and traditions of the Kazakhs. He strongly supported creative people who loved their people and valued the national heritage. He made a great contribution to the collection of exhibits of the local history Museum.

 

Museum collections contain more than seventy-five thousand exhibits, there are eleven exhibition halls. During these years, the Museum's funds were replenished with valuable exhibits. Cozy and deeply informative exhibition halls are filled with many secrets and fascinate from the very beginning of viewing. Not only residents of our region, but also foreign guests, well-known public figures of culture and cosmonauts come to admire the unique exhibits. Such famous people as T. Aubakirov, T. Musabayev, S. Maulenov, G. Kayyrbekov, S. Dosanov, B. Tolegenova, L. Kesoglu, A. Derbisali, I. Tasmagambetov and many others left their good wishes and autographs in the book of reviews.
